Ever heard of Christmas Island? I hadn't. My flight from Honolulu to Fiji made a stop there. It was Tuesday. The only day flights land on the Island. Half the plane offloaded with their fishing and scuba gear. From what I heard, both are out of this world. I have never seen so many coconut trees and a landing strip with no marked lines! Check out the Wikipedia link for more details.
Sitting next to me on my wonderful Air Pacific flight was one of the kindest women I have ever met. June Motil had lived on Kauai for 37 years on that very day was moving to Fiji to be closer to her son. June has two sons. Guy Motif is the photographer & publisher of Longboard Magazine out of San Clemente California and is also author of a book titled 'Surfboards'. Her other Son lives in Fiji and is building himself and his mother homes on an island off the Main island. Interacting with June was so refreshing. Her calm demeanor and excitable stories kept me captivated most of the ride. Until of course she decided to move up to first class.

Christmas Island - what a cool name.
I just looked through your pics of Kuaui. Molly and I honeymooned there, so it brought back lots of awesome memories...Hiking Waiamea Canyon - hanging out on the North Shore... these things just can't be beat.
Much love from Seattle ~
